Hewitt Associates Wins Two Key Awards in China
Hewitt was recently named 2006 Consulting Firm of the Year for Performance and Reward Management and 2006 Outsourcing Firm of the Year by readers of CHINA STAFF magazine and HR professionals in the region. Hewitt has been acknowledged nine times by CHINA STAFF, having previously been awarded the China HR Consulting Firm of the Year for four consecutive years, the China Compensation and Benefits Firm of the Year in 2004 and, most recently, the China Consulting Firm of the Year for Change Management in 2005. Commenting on why the judges selected Hewitt for the two different awards, CHINA STAFF said, "Hewitt clearly stood out as a firm offering solutions based on a clear understanding of customer needs and correlating them not only to HR but to the customer's business results. When going through the judging process, the choice was quite clear in both categories."

Salary increases in the finance sector increased dramatically in Hong Kong this year, according to Hewitt's 2006 Hong Kong Local Compensation & Benefits Total Compensation Measurement Report. The study revealed that salaries in the finance industry rose by an average of 5.3 percent in 2006, compared to 3.2 percent last year. The industrial manufacturing and retail sectors followed at 4.2 and 4.1 percent increases respectively. Participating companies also reported average voluntary turnover rates between 10 and 17 percent, compared to 8 and 13.1 percent last year. When broken down according to job function, human resources, sales, and finance departments saw the highest levels of attrition at 26.9 percent, 19.7 and 17.8 percent respectively. The report also identified several key trends in the market including: higher turnover, especially in HR, sales, IT, and finance; pressure to increase salaries; a widening gap between middle management and senior management pay; and, variable pay becoming a popular tool to improve productivity (individual performance being the main measurement tool). |
