TCM Database

Getting the right compensation & benefits information nowadays is not easy. Hewitt's TCM (Total Compensation Measurement) is a consistent, proprietary, global methodology for collecting and storing data and a methodology for valuing ‘total' compensation. TCM captures base salary, allowances, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, perquisites, benefits and company policy information from the organizations you compete with. The over 200 globally consistent benchmark positions in TCM cover a broad spectrum of organizational functions.

TCM offers compensation information tailored to your needs, whether it is a standard report for quick reference on market compensation, a customized report on how selected positions in your company measure up against a specific peer group, or a full diagnostic study detailing how competitive your compensation programs and practices are.

The benefits of participation

Access to TCM data is available exclusively through participation. Each participating company will receive a free "Policies and Programs Report", which contains an overview of compensation levels for all the positions in the database and detailed information on a variety of compensation policies and practices. TCM is available in 18 European countries and adheres to strict data privacy regulations. All information provided is treated in the strictest confidence. No individual company information is reported on an identifiable basis.

Company Car Survey

The Hewitt Company Car Survey has become a standard for companies who need to know more about the company car practices and trends in Belgium. The study analyses different employee groups: general manager, top management, middle management, representatives and field employees.

Salary Increase Survey

This survey provides general salary increase information for the following employee groups: senior management, middle management, professional/technical, clerical/support and manual. It covers both actual increases for the current year and projected salary increases for the upcoming year. The salary increase budgets cover general, merit, miscellaneous and overall salary increases.

Custom Studies

Private studies are available on request, covering specific elements based on your needs, for example stock options, company cars … Hewitt will work closely with you to develop the study and provide the type of analysis required.

Job Pricing

Job Pricings are typically carried out on a project basis, and do not require participation in the Hewitt Total Compensation Measurement (TCM) database or compensation surveys. Market data is drawn from a variety of sources, including the Hewitt TCM database and other published and private surveys, and using the market knowledge and expertise of the local Hewitt consultant. The market information is tailored to your needs whenever possible. Job pricing reports usually include total cash compensation data (base salary, actual/target bonus and total cash). Additional information such as typical benefits and perquisites can be provided upon request. The analysis is done at 25th percentile, median, 75th percentile and average.

Boardroom Compensation

Senior executives – and their compensation packages – are under an increasingly intense spotlight. Corporate scandals, volatile financial performance and shareholders concerns over excessive pay packages have contributed to the scrutiny of executive compensation packages around the world.

Hewitt designs, communicates and implements executive total compensation programs that balance management's and shareholders' interests and are aligned to your organization's business strategies. We offer unparalleled design expertise across major industries throughout the world and can help you proactively manage your organization's executive compensation strategy amid all the recent changes. We provide industry-leading data resources, proven tools and the appropriate in-depth technical knowledge on tax, accounting, securities and employment law issues.

We have one of the largest consulting communities focused on executive and director pay issues, including designing programs tailored to support the business strategy of our clients, while also protecting shareholders' interest. This includes a substantial number of senior consultants with board and compensation committee experience around the globe.

Salary Structures

Hewitt's Broad-Based Reward Offer helps organizations optimize the return on their human capital through the effective strategy development, design, implementation and administration of their broad-based compensation programs.

Our services provide value to clients with:

  • global perspectives;
  • state-of-the-art diagnosis and domain expertise;
  • linkage to business direction;
  • customized but practical design solutions;
  • fact-based (benchmark data and payroll impact) financial decision framework;
  • integrated transition and implementation support;
  • ongoing administrative program support, as needed.

The need for Hewitt's global broad-based reward expertise can be driven by macro-economics, demographics, regulatory requirements, corporate restructuring or financial changes, competitor actions, or employee-based initiatives. We synthesize these drivers into a process framework that supports our clients' needs for strategic direction; base pay, incentive, or recognition plan design; pay delivery (pay-for-performance) design; benchmarking data; and decision support costing/modeling. We also support the effectiveness of these designs through implementation training and communication and through ongoing administration including using Web-based or outsourced services.

Employee Ownership

What is the advantage of employee ownership, of the employee being the owner of a part of the company? Employee ownership provides an opportunity to participate in the company's long-term success, to contribute to the long-term growth of the company. Share plans are an essential part of competitive remuneration packages, helping you attract, retain and motivate employees. Rewarding employees in this way can help motivate your workforce and promote corporate identity throughout the organization. Given such potential, it is important to choose the best type of plan for your people.

At Hewitt, we take a creative approach to designing and implementing a wide range of arrangements, including share incentive plans, savings-related share options, approved and unapproved company share options, phantom share options, long-term incentive plans and restricted share plans.

Our multi-disciplinary team can advise you on all aspects of the market practice, corporate governance, effective communication, and legal, tax and accountancy issues.

Variable Compensation

The most successful sales organizations in the world align all sales processes toward the same objective:

  • Business and sales strategies should drive all design decisions
  • When processes are out of alignment, overall sales organization effectiveness can be derailed
  • Modifying one sales process has a ripple effect across the entire sales process; sometimes requiring additional changes

International Mobility

In today's global environment, the cross-border mobility of people is ever increasing. When someone leaves on an assignment to another country, many issues automatically arise.
Possibly, you spend a lot of time treating every single problem yourself. Or maybe you have a number of providers helping you on different aspects. You may have an approach that is common to all international assignments, or you may treat each one separately, on a case-by-case basis.
Hewitt provides integrated services in the field of cross-border assignments. We have the expert knowledge and international network required to align and coordinate the processes necessary to arrive at consistent, flexible, and timely answers to any questions related to international mobility.

Perquisites

Belgium's reputation for high taxes are not headline news. Perquisites offer a highly effective means for firms to reward people without the high tax burden increasing proportionately.

The biggest and most frequently offered perk in Belgium is the company car. Also popular is the representation allowance. But there are many others.

Hewitt can help you with setting up competitive and effective compensation packages and communicating these to their beneficiaries to ensure that the perceived value is a high as the economic value.
