Case study - Legal and General Investment Management

Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) is one of the leading UK investment management houses with over £113 billion of assets under management on behalf of pension funds, private investors, other institutions, charities and subsidiary companies within the Legal & General Group.

L&G send printed Fund Fact Sheets to its Corporate Pension clients on a regular basis to report on fund characteristics and performance. LGIM's clients can also allow their members to view the information. This helps members who are managing their own portfolios to make investment decisions.

L&G required a system that would allow these Fund Fact Sheets to be distributed electronically and that would allow LGIM to content manage the Fact Sheets themselves. Hewitt created a specialist browser that allowed LGIM to configure different combinations of sheets depending on client portfolios. This browser allows LGIM to easily update the data on the Fact Sheets via e mail and a simple text file format that the browser can read. Apart from some basic instruction on the formatting procedure for the text files, the LGIM team required no specialist skills to update the Fact Sheets. LGIM have found this format very popular and easy to use.
