Appropriate governance structures and procedures are essential for any pension
plan. Are yours as robust as they should be? Do they fit your corporate
governance processes well? Are you even sure what they are?
Pension plans evolve in many ways over time. It is surprising how often the
precise roles and responsibilities of those involved in running them are lost
or forgotten.
UK listed companies will be used to the corporate governance requirements of the
Combined Code and in particular the Turnbull report. The Government has
indicated that if the fundamental principles laid out in the Myners Review are
not adhered to, it will consider making them mandatory.
Our governance check reviews the current structure within which your plan
operates and helps develop and revise that structure in places where it may
currently be less than robust; analysing current roles, responsibilities and
reporting procedures. We use the results to discuss a revised governance
structure, including an analysis of the risks the plan is running and who is
responsible for monitoring them.
