  • First benefit consulting firm to measure ongoing investment performance for defined benefit plans

1940-1949

  • Works with Thilmany Paper to create industry-first noncontributory pension and employee savings plan—the first plan of this type to be qualified with the U.S. Internal Revenue Service
  • Ted Hewitt forms Edwin Shields Hewitt and Associates on October 1, 1940, as an insurance brokerage specialising in financial planning for business executives
