Programs to Keep You Healthy
Medical Care
The medical plan is available to all full-time associates, part-time associates
working at least 24 hours per week, and retirees. We offer five options in
medical care; you choose the option that will best meet your needs. You pay for
your coverage with flexible dollars and/or payroll deductions.
Dental Care
The dental plan is available to all full-time associates and part-time
associates working at least 24 hours per week, and retirees. We offer four
options in dental care; you choose the option that will best meet your needs.
You pay for your coverage with flexible dollars, and/or payroll deductions.
HCEA
To provide you with a non-taxable source of funds for health and dental related
expenses not covered by the Hewitt Medical and Dental Plans or the Provincial
Health Plan. The advantage of the health care expense account is that it is
tax-effective. You can fund the account with excess flexible dollars.
Healthcare and Wellness Service Flexible Dollars
To help you purchase health care coverage each year, Hewitt Associates gives
you benefits and wellness flex dollars. You also receive service flex dollars
based on your length of service with Hewitt. If you have flexible credits left
over after making your choices, they can be deposited into your HCEA, DPSP,
used to purchase additional paid time off or paid to you throughout the year as
extra taxable cash in your paycheque.
Programs to Build Financial Security
Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP)
To assist you in developing your financial savings for retirement, Hewitt
Associates will make an annual contribution to your account based on your total
pay (base pay plus variable) received during the plan year. You are vested 20%
in the plan after one year and fully vested after two years of service.
Group RRSP
To encourage and assist you to develop your retirement savings, Hewitt
Associates matches contributions made to your RRSP on a dollar-for-dollar basis
up to 4% of your base pay during the fiscal year. The match happens
automatically each time you make a contribution (payroll or lump sum) to your
RRSP. You are always 100% vested in the match contributions.
Programs to Protect Your Income
Salary Continuation Plan
The Salary Continuation Plan provides financial protection against interrupted
income due to illness or injury from a portion of a day up to six consecutive
months. Sometimes salary continuation time is referred to as "sick days" or
"illness days." All associates eligible for benefits are eligible for the
Salary Continuation Plan. Depending on your years of service, the Salary
Continuation Plan will continue your pay at either 100% or 60% for up to six
months.
Long-Term Disability (LTD)
The purpose of the LTD plan is to provide protection against interrupted income
due to long-term illness or injury. The LTD plan is available to all full-time
associates and part-time associates working at least 24 hours per week. We
offer six options; you choose the option that will best meet your needs. You
pay for your coverage with Hewitt Associates flexible dollars or after-tax
payroll deductions.
Life Insurance
Life insurance can help provide financial security to your family in the event
of your or a covered dependent's death. The life insurance plan is available to
all full-time associates and part-time associates working at least 24 hours per
week. We offer many options; you choose the option that will best meet your
needs. You pay for your coverage with payroll deductions.
Personal Accident Insurance (AD&D)
Personal Accident Insurance is designed to pay benefits if you or a covered
dependent dies or suffers certain physical losses because of an accident. The
AD&D insurance plan is available to all full-time associates and part-time
associates working at least 24 hours per week. We offer many options; you
choose the option that will best meet your needs. You pay for your coverage
with flexible dollars and/or payroll deductions.
Programs to Provide Time Away
Paid Time Off
When you join Hewitt, you accrue 16 days of paid time off each year. Beginning
in your sixth year of service, you accrue an additional day for each additional
year, up to a total of 21 days for associates with ten or more years service.
Part-time associates will be eligible for prorated paid time off based on hours
worked.
Holidays
Hewitt Associates observes all provincial statutory holidays as well as gives
associates one floating holiday a year to use at their leisure.
Splash
In recognition of service, an extra vacation "Splash" is available in your
anniversary years at five-year increments. You are eligible for an additional
week of vacation in your fifth year and an additional two weeks vacation in
your tenth year. An additional three weeks of time off will be added to the
normal schedule every fifth anniversary, starting with the year you reach your
15th anniversary. Splash days are added to your regular paid time off and days
may be taken at any time during the calendar year in which you reach your
anniversary. Part-time associates will be eligible for prorated Splash based on
hours worked.
Purchased Days
Each year, during the annual benefits enrollment period, benefits-eligible
associates may purchase up to an additional five days for the following year
with excess flexible dollars and/or with payroll deductions.
Programs to Make Your Life Easier
Associate Assistance Plan (AAP)
To provide you and your immediate family with timely professional counseling to
help assess problems, provide short-term assistance, and provide referral for
more in-depth help when needed.
Tuition Reimbursement
To help you further your individual development. Reimbursement for 90% of the
cost of tuition, books, and fees for approved courses taken at an accredited
college or university. Hewitt will reimburse up to $5,000 per year.
Stop Smoking Plan
To provide financial support when you or an immediate family member decides to
quit smoking. Reimbursement is 75% of the cost of an approved smoking-cessation
treatment program. After you have quit smoking for at least 12 months, the plan
reimburses the remaining 25% of treatment costs.
Conveniences and Discounts
To help associates cost-effectively meet personal and professional needs.
Conveniences and discounts vary by location, but often include: Discounts on
entertainment (i.e. theme parks), clothing, computers, home office equipment,
fitness centre memberships, Hewitt Gear, etc.
Programs to Help You and Your Family
Sick Dependent Care
To provide reimbursement for sick dependent care expenses incurred while you
are at work. You can be reimbursed for up to five days per year, in full- or
half-day increments, for additional expenses related to the care of an eligible
sick dependent while you are at work.
Adoption Assistance
To provide you with financial assistance when adopting a child. Reimbursement
of up to $5,000 of eligible adoption-related expenses for each successful
adoption (limit two adoptions per year).
Programs to Help Us Do Business
Overnight Dependent Care
To ease the financial burden of dependent care when you are out of town on
business. Reimbursement of dependent care expenses incurred if you and your
spouse/partner are out of town overnight on business or if you work
significantly beyond your normal hours.
Overnight Care for Pets
To ease the financial burden of caring for pet(s) when you are out of town on
business. Reimbursement of pet sitting or kenneling costs (up to $20 daily) if
you are out of town overnight on business and incur expenses by having someone
care for your domestic pet(s).
Service Recognition Program
To recognize long-term commitment and contributions to the firm. You'll receive
a certificate and your choice of service-recognition gifts when you celebrate
your 5-, 10-, 15-, 20-, 25-, 30-, and 35-year anniversaries with Hewitt
Associates.
