While the Medicare Part D retiree drug subsidy (RDS) Web site alerts employers to key deadlines regarding the application, RDS continues to be a complicated administrative process.

Hewitt offers complete RDS services, so that employers can outsource the Account Manager and Payment Requester roles, as well as project management.

To help employers prepare for the impending RDS busy season, the Hewitt bulletin linked to at right provides a list of action items, including information about:

• Finalizing prescription drug plan designs;
  
• Completing the RDS application;
  
• Providing creditable/non-creditable coverage notice;
  
• Completing 2008 reconciliation;
  
• Preparing pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) Part D agreements; and
  
• Providing disclosure to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
