Hewitt handles the billing and collection of premium payments for retirees, COBRA enrollees, and other people not actively on payroll. Hewitt's Direct Billings and Payment (DB&P) service offers the following features:

• People who are not on active payroll (e.g., COBRA enrollees) are billed directly for benefits coverage. 
• Payments can be made via check, electronic direct debit from bank accounts, or deductions from retiree pension checks.
• Payment due dates, including applicable grace periods, are monitored and coverage is dropped due to nonpayment.
• Billing amounts are automatically adjusted if benefits coverage and/or premiums change.
