When you search Hewitt.com, Google’s powerful search tool will help you quickly find the information you need.

Search is simple. Just type in your search term and hit Enter. Most of the time you’ll find what you were looking for with a basic query.

The following tips can help you refine your technique to make the most of your searches.

  • Every word matters, so choose the right search term. Generally, all the words you put in a query will be used. The more unique the word, the better your results.
  • Use multiple search terms to focus your results. If you’re looking for articles on employee engagement, you’ll get better results using employee engagement than either employee or engagement alone.
  • Don’t worry about punctuation or capitalization. Google search is not case sensitive and will correct typos and misspellings.
  • Use quotation marks if you’re searching for an exact phrase, such as “Hewitt 401(k) Index”.
  • Most queries do not require advanced operators or unusual syntax. However, you can use a minus sign (-) to exclude words. For example, use HR consulting - recruiting to find articles about HR consulting but not recruiting. Be sure to include a space before the minus sign.
  • Google ignores common words and characters such as the, and, or, of, etc. Google will let you know if it has omitted some results because of common words.
